Crochet, learned at home

Zamira Seidametova learned to crochet from her mother in Uzbekistan and has carried the practice with her ever since. Now based in Chicago, she makes small, tactile pieces for the home, from coasters and doilies to granny-square studies, each finished by hand.

Zamira learned crochet from her mother while growing up in Uzbekistan. What began as a family-taught skill became a lasting practice: a quiet way to make useful objects beautiful. Today, from Chicago, she continues to work by hand, building each piece stitch by stitch.

The technique is patient. The objects are small. The pleasure is in the details.
